While technically advanced for the time, the Neo Geo Pocket Color struggled against fierce competition from Nintendo and their popular Pokemon series. SNK didn't have the resources for a prolonged battle and sadly the Neo Geo Pocket Color was discontinued from Western markets in 2000. Some put this down to the lack of games from 3rd party publishers. Sega was the only large 3rd publisher to support the Neo Geo Pocket Color with the release of Sonic the Hedgehog Pocket Adventure, which IGN rated 10 out of 10.
SNK's arcade heritage was clear with Pocket Color versions of Metal Slug, King of Fighters, Samurai Shodown, Neo Turf Masters and Neo Geo Cup '98 Color. Other popular titles include Puzzle Bobble, Cool Boarders and Cotton: Fantastic Night Dreams.
