With genius level design and a truly rewarding feeling of satisfaction when a puzzle is solved, Portal 2 is a masterpiece of challenging gaming.

Taking the FIFA format and placing it into smaller, urban courts, this fast-paced football title is without a doubt the most exciting on the console. 8. De Blob 2


This nitro-charged adventure puts players in control of Blob and Pinky as you investigate the terrible conspiracy behind the brainwashed Blancs. This colourful and kinetic sequel introduced super new co-op modes that allow players to liberate Prisma City together and triumph over adversity in this delightfully daft romp, resulting in certainly one of the most fun co-op experiences on the PlayStation 3.


7. Rainbow Six Vegas 2


As any Rainbow Six player will tell you, this is not a franchise for run-and-gunners or spray-and-prayers. Rainbow Six demands patience, tactics and a whole lot of teamwork – something that is proved by the incredible Rainbow Six Vegas 2. This masterpiece of tension includes a stunning campaign and an arcade ‘Terrorist Hunt’ mode that can be customised to your liking. Endlessly replayable, Vegas 2 is a blast that simply never gets old.


6. Gears of War 3


Gears of War is one of the most celebrated and beloved game franchises on Microsoft’s home consoles thanks to its innovative gameplay, over-the-top action and brutal violence. The third entry in the saga is a terrific game that holds up ridiculously well today, with a beautifully dark cinematic art style and addictive gameplay. A masterpiece of action gaming, made all the better with the thrilling co-op. Simply unmissable.


5. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare


After a rather underwhelming third outing, nobody expected much from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. They certainly didn’t expect a historic game-changer that would shape every other FPS that came after it. This iconic and beloved title boasts an engaging and intense campaign and featured the best online multiplayer on the PlayStation 3. This masterpiece of modern gaming still holds up today as one of the most exciting shooters available on home consoles.


4. Left 4 Dead 2


Left 4 Dead 2 is a co-operative action horror that takes you and friends through cities, swamps and cemeteries across five thrilling campaigns. With a range of infected enemies to deal with – including the Jockey, Spitter and Charger – this is an intense experience that will keep you on your toes, as you never know what is lurking around the next corner. Endlessly thrilling and brutally intense, Left 4 Dead 2 is scarily good.


3. Rayman Legends


Rayman Legends is nothing short of wonderful. This charmingly beautiful old-school platformer romp is a love letter to the genre and simply oozes passion, and is certainly at its best when enjoyed with a friend in co-operative multiplayer. Deceptively simple, the game is a fun, stress-free experience and the addition of mini-games including the addictive Kung Foot makes for a fun night in. A wonderful addition to any party!


2. Diablo III


One of the best couch co-op games ever made, Diablo III gives you the choice of a class before dropping you into the war-torn wasteland known as Sanctuary with up to three friends. Aside from the stunning main quest, Diablo III is packed with other activities including plentiful side missions and dungeon raids, providing an almost endless wealth of content for you to enjoy with your buddies. A masterpiece of multiplayer gaming.


1. Halo 3


An early review of Halo 3 stated the game was ‘essential’ and that ‘an Xbox 360 without it was like a human without a heart’. To this day, the statement rings true. With stunning gameplay, endless replayability, incredible production values and the finest multiplayer on the console, Halo 3 is a gaming masterpiece that holds up as one of the finest titles ever released. Simply incredible across the board.
